Improvements are usually seen immediately after the
completion of the bodywork. Softening of the tissue can be felt and positive changes
in movement can generally be seen. The individual will also feel much more
relaxed.
Improvements are often not
maintained because the individual is allowed to regress or regresses into old
[postural]
habits. To achieve optimal resolution of the problem, it is
important to effectively address the root cause(s) of the muscular
problems as well.
I generally find that less is
usually more when
it comes to bodywork and therefore prefer to use
less invasive techniques that are highly effective, yet cause the
least amount of discomfort, while facilitating lasting and positive
changes.
People often believe that the treatment needs to be uncomfortable
to be effective, AKA "No pain, no gain" and think only
deep tissue work will make a difference - not so when it comes to
animals. They simply won't put up with it and
generally stop cooperating. Though it’s possible to have some discomfort
during the work,
it should be minimized.
